Movies Under The Stars @ Shades Mill Cambridge
Come watch movies under the stars starting at dusk every Friday
night beginning June 10 and continuing until mid- September in the new
outdoor amphitheatre at Shade’s Mills Park on Avenue Road in Cambridge. Please
note that movies are sometimes cancelled due to poor weather.
Movies start shortly before sunset, and the times vary between 9
p.m. during the longer days of June and July to 7:30 p.m. in September.
Cancellations due to poor weather or schedule changes will be posted on the
GRCA events calendar, Facebook and Twitter, or call the park at 519-621-3697.
The movies are all rated parental guidance (PG) or general
admission (G). Specific movies for each Friday are listed in the Events
Calendar on the GRCA website at www.grandriver.ca/events.

24th ANNUAL MILL RACE FESTIVAL
OF TRADITIONAL FOLK MUSIC
will
take place July 29 - 31, 2016
Downtown Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
This free festival is patterned
after European festivals whereby the day’s events are held on numerous outdoor
stages in the town core. Traditional forms of folk music and dance are the
festival’s theme, with emphasis placed upon the various cultures present in
Cambridge and surrounding area. Arts, crafts, and an excellent choice of food
and refreshments are also available at the festival site and from the many fine
eating establishments in downtown Cambridge. Local and internationally renowned
performers, are selected each year to reflect a most diverse and entertaining

The African Women's Alliance of Waterloo is proud to
announce the upcoming 15th annual Afro Festival. Afro Festival is a
festival of dance, music, drama, art and African cuisine celebrating the
rich cultural heritage of all of the countries that comprise the African
continent.
This year we are celebrating the memory of Sadia Gassim, The founder of
African Women’s Alliance of Waterloo Region. Sadia found AWA in 1995 and
worked hard to build a stronger community through richness of African
Culture diversity.
The 15th Annual Afro Festival comes up this year on Saturday, July 30th,
2016 at Waterloo Park, Westmount Road entrance from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We
are expecting over 5,000 people, over 50 agencies, community groups,
several dance troupes, and traditional storytellers. There will be vendors
selling African food, traditional crafts and clothing. This is a free
family friendly event. Free parking is available.

Critter Show @ Guelph Lake (road trip)

Be part of an adoring audience as celebrity resident
"creature teachers" from the Guelph Lake Nature Centre visit Guelph
Lake Park. Learn some fascinating facts and stories about the animals and see
them up close. Paparazzi and their cameras are welcome. Children
under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. For our animals’ safety, please do
not bring dogs. Meet at the outdoor classroom near the pollinator garden and
the new nature centre site. Preregistration is not required.
This event is free for Grand
River Parks Members and those who have paid park admission
fees.

and fellow collectors around Kitchener/Waterloo for traders night starting at
7PM
Last Saturday of every month we have traders night. Traders night is where
collectors come to our store with their traders and trade with fellow
collectors while watching sports on our 5 TV’s. Any age groups are welcomed and
any style of cards are welcomed (Hockey is the main sport)

Nature Detectives @ Shades Mill (Cambridge)

Animals are well camouflaged and seldom seen by predators and humans. They
leave clues such as tracks, scats, nests and dens. Join our nature guide on a
detective hike and learn new skills to help find out who lives here at Shade’s
Mills Park. Bring your binoculars or borrow a pair from the nature guide. A
hat, mosquito repellent and close-toed shoes are recommended. This program is
suitable for adults and school-aged children. Children under the age of 14 must
be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Toyota Amphitheatre.
Preregistration is not required.

Classic
Car Mondays
Kitchener-Waterloo residents of all ages are invited to join car
enthusiasts as they showcase their special edition and classic cars every
Monday from June 6th to September 19th. Show & Shine Classic Car Mondays
will run from 6 pm until dusk in the PartSource parking lot at The Shops at
Highland and Westmount (weather permitting). Admission is free and there
are there great prizes to be won. Public transit and parking is
