Getting to know the Gaslight District and Grand Opening Weekend Info




As mentioned in an earlier post, Friday night I was at the opening of A Few Good Men at the Hamilton Family Theatre in Cambridge.  I went early to get a parking spot at the theatre.  When I got out of my car I could hear music playing so I headed toward Foundry Tavern in The Gaslight District and as I got closer I knew the voice singing right away.  It was my friend Juynet singing with The Turk and the Hobbits. They were playing outdoors in the Big Screen area of The Gaslight District.  Watch the video below to see the view



Next thing you know the Toronto Blue Jays were on the screen.



It is really a fun place to be!

The Gaslight District is a new kind of 'Infrastructure for the human spirit' that helps people freely play in public in ways that start to define an inclusive community identity. 


It was a great preview of what is to come this month for The Gaslight District's Grand Opening.

Grand Opening Weekend at The Gaslight District

I have been including Big Screen Thursdays at The Gaslight District as part of the ongoing Thursday events in my monthly list, but I felt the Grand Opening Weekend deserved a post too!

The Grand Opening Weekend is running July 28-30, 2023 with FREE CONCERTS on Friday and Saturday.

Each concert is headlined by a well-known band,  Friday night BIG WRECK is the headliner and Saturday WALK OFF THE EARTH headlines the show.

Free Beavertails at The Boardwalk Grand Opening June 11, 2023



FREE BEAVERTAILS!!!

Now that I have your attention, I want to let you know that something sweet just opened up!



Beavertails have always been a fantastic treat and will be much easier to find locally. The Kitchener Waterloo area now has a Beavertails location on Ira Needles Blvd. at The Boardwalk. The Grand Opening is Sunday June 11, 2023 where everyone will receive Free Classic Pastries from 11am-2pm (limit one per person).

Here are all the details
11 - 2 PM - Complimentary Classic pastries!
*Limit one pastry per customer
11 - 3 PM - Photo Booth by SoFly
11 - 2 PM - Live Music by Carolina Herrera
2 - 4 PM - Face Painting fun by Breanne Waddell
2 - 4 PM - Magic Show by Noah Nogueira

As the local Beavertails Ambassador, I thought I would stop in to say hello and grab some Beavertails. 



Tonight's choices were the Brwownie and the Mehple (they have such fun names) and they were delicious.  With the chill in the air today, warm Beavertails were the perfect snack. Once my order was ready the shop started to get busy so I went to one of the on-site picnic tables to enjoy it.



In addition to Beavertails, there was also Ice Cream, Frozen Drinks and Hot Chocolate available, so I will be back soon to try them out and report back.

Being the JAMIE OLIVER FOOD REVOLUTION AMBASSADORS FOR KITCHENER WATERLOO, we were thrilled to learn that The Chopped Leaf had opened a location in Waterloo Ontario.  From the moment we walked in we fell in love with the modern atmosphere and once the fresh food arrived we were hooked.

The Chopped Leaf is a franchise that began in Western Canada with an emphasis on fresh and healthy options.  They offer both seating in their establishment as well as to go meals that can be ordered online or in person.  This fits well within the KW community.  It gives families another option when it comes to quick service meals. What We Ate At The Chopped Leaf
We each had a Chef Designed Signature Salad which we added grilled chicken to.  Diane's choice was SOUTHWEST and mine was SUNSHINE.  Each Chef Designed Salad was filled with fresh ingredients and dressed to perfection.
 
As a beverage with our meals we each had a  Fresh Cold Pressed Juice with our meal and after we took some Chopped Water to go!
 
 
Eating at The Chopped Leaf was an amazing experience and while we left feeling full we didn't feel like we needed a nap.  The fresh vegetables and lean protein gave us energy to carry on with the rest of our day. With choices like salads, wraps and veggie rolls there will be something on the menu for everyone in your family.  They even have a kids menu to get your kiddos eating healthy!
