Make Mother's Day Special With Tickets To The Velveteen Rabbit @ Steckle Farm - Enter To Win

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive complimentary tickets, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance to attend too! Enter the contest at the end of this post!

This year Lightning Banjo Productions is bringing THE VELVETEEN RABBIT back and they have been busy getting ready for the play to take place at STECKLE FARM on MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND.

via GIPHY

The tale of stuffed bunny originally published in 1922 has been re-imagined in so many ways over time and we cannot wait to see it performed at the Registry Theatre this December. For those unfamiliar with the story it begins with a toy bunny that was given as a present which makes it perfect timing being right after Easter.
The Velveteen Rabbit becomes a special toy for the little girl that lives in the nursery, but when illness strikes the bunny's bravery is tested. It seems that all hope may be lost, but that, as all boys and girls know, is when the very best magic can happen.
We have been to Lightning Banjo Productions performances in the past and because their family friendly plays are so delightful the tickets go very quickly! Be sure to grab your tickets before they are gone!

Hot Cross Bun Making Demonstration and Kid’s Craft Making @ McDougall Cottage Cambridge
Drop in from 1 to 4 p.m.
There are many interesting superstitions surrounding hot cross buns.  One says that they will not spoil if baked or served on Good Friday while another claims that they can protect against shipwreck.  A hot cross bun placed on the hearth is thought to protect from fire and also ensure that all your breads bake perfectly; kissing a hot cross bun before eating it is said to bring good luck. Our favourite superstition, however, is the one that says that sharing a hot cross bun with a friend will guarantee good friendship for the coming year. We can’t say whether or not these superstitions are true, but one thing we do know is that these traditional Scottish Easter treats are delicious – especially when they’re freshly baked! Plan to stop by McDougall Cottage on Good Friday when we’ll be baking up some hot cross buns to share with friends, old and new.  Nibble a sample with a hot cup of tea and don’t forget to take a free recipe home with you, so you can make some to share with all of your other friends.  Crafts for the kids too!  Admission by cash donation.

And back by popular demand, feed the farm animals at Pilkington Acres Petting Zoo.

Again, there will be 4 Egg Hunt flights at: 10:30, 10:55, 11:20 and 11:45 for all ages. Gather as many eggs as you can find and then turn them in for a candy-filled treat bag.
