Unique Easter Hunts Are So Much Fun with a Personalized Easter Hunt Bag from Stuck On You – Enter To Win

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive a complimentary product, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance to win one too! Enter the contest at the end of this post!

Easter egg hunts are such a fun family tradition.  They can take place indoors or outdoors which makes them an activity everyone can enjoy. Plus, it doesn’t have to all about finding dyed eggs.  There are many variations of when it comes to an annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Unique Ideas For Easter Egg Hunts

Family Scavenger Hunt For Treats
I have to give my Aunt Cathy all the credit for this one.  Being that several generations of our family participate in this outdoor scavenger hunt, it has become the memories we talk about year after year on Easter. She puts clues in refillable plastic Easter Eggs and hides them around her property.  We all get dressed in our “outdoor gear” and head outside.  It always begins with a “Simon Says” warm up to get the little ones excited to participate. Then she reads the first clue.  When we figure out the spot it refers to, then we all run there and start looking for the next plastic Easter Egg with a clue to the treasure we know awaits us all.  This process repeats itself until all the eggs are found, and making sure all the little ones get a chance to be the one to find a colourful refillable egg containing a clue.  The final clue will take us all to the big prize, which happens to be a plethora of snack sized treats.  It is always fun to work up our appetites running around finding the clues and then snacking while we chuckle over how this year’s Easter Hunt went.

Easter Pinata

Many save Pinata fun for birthday party celebrations, but I suggest filling a bright coloured pinata with foil wrapped chocolate eggs and hiding it. I think it would be fun to hunt for the Easter Party Pinata and then see how long it takes to break it open and watch all the egg-shaped chocolates spill out of it.

Easter Hunt for Stickers

If you want an idea that doesn’t involve treats, try hunting for stickers.  Head to the dollar store and buy a few sets of stickers. They could be Easter or themed, or any that you think the crowd would like.  Make sure they have the same stickers on each sheet (that way no one is upset that someone else got “the best sticker”). Keep one sheet as the master sheet, but then cut out the stickers on the other sheets and hide them (you may want to tape them pebbles or pieces of lego so that they don’t fly away).
Make a master sheet showing which stickers everyone should look for, explain that there are enough of each one the stickers so that everyone gets one of each style of sticker.  At the end have everyone trade their sticker doubles so that each participant ends up with the same set of stickers.

What could make these Easter Hunts even more fun? Use a Personalized Easter Hunt Bag from Stuck On You to collect your findings!

Personalized Easter Hunt Bag

This Easter could be extra special if each of the participants had their own special Easter Hunt Bag! How excited do you think they will be to see their name printed on the bag with a floppy eared Easter Bunny?!?!?!

Hot Cross Bun Making Demonstration and Kid’s Craft Making @ McDougall Cottage Cambridge
Drop in from 1 to 4 p.m.
There are many interesting superstitions surrounding hot cross buns.  One says that they will not spoil if baked or served on Good Friday while another claims that they can protect against shipwreck.  A hot cross bun placed on the hearth is thought to protect from fire and also ensure that all your breads bake perfectly; kissing a hot cross bun before eating it is said to bring good luck. Our favourite superstition, however, is the one that says that sharing a hot cross bun with a friend will guarantee good friendship for the coming year. We can’t say whether or not these superstitions are true, but one thing we do know is that these traditional Scottish Easter treats are delicious – especially when they’re freshly baked! Plan to stop by McDougall Cottage on Good Friday when we’ll be baking up some hot cross buns to share with friends, old and new.  Nibble a sample with a hot cup of tea and don’t forget to take a free recipe home with you, so you can make some to share with all of your other friends.  Crafts for the kids too!  Admission by cash donation.

There’s a Million Dollar Prize Fight in Cambridge with Drayton Entertainment’s Rocky: The Musical – Enter To Win

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive complimentary tickets, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance to attend the advance screening too! Enter the contest at the end of this post!

Canadian Premier of Rocky: The Musical

For those that don’t know, I am a huge fan of the ROCKY movies.  I watched them all including the modern-day films CREED and CREED II which feature the character of Rocky Balboa.  There is something about this character that captures the audience each time he is on the big screen.  The role of the underdog, that life hits below the belt and manages to rise above it all, keeps bringing audiences back to learn more about his ever-evolving story.  Now the character of Rocky has leapt off the screen and on to the stage in the adaptation of the first Rocky film and has been transformed into Rocky: The Musical.

Last night I had the opportunity to attend the Opening Night performance of Rocky: The Musical which made its Canadian debut at the Hamilton Family Theatre (formerly Dunfield Theatre) in Cambridge Ontario.  Not only was it   the Canadian premiere performance, but it was also the launch of Drayton Entertainment’s 2019 Season.  Artistic Director and CEO of Drayton Entertainment, Alex Mustakas introduced the show and informed those in attendance that this was a million-dollar production.  While, Rocky only earned $150,000 for his first fight against the Heavyweight Champion Apollo Creed, my bet is Drayton Entertainment’s Rocky: The Musical will be taking home the winner’s purse. This musical was a great representation of the original Rocky story.  Each actor was true to the character, in fact if you closed your eyes you would believe Sylvester Stallone was in the room as Alex Kelly spoke in true Rocky Balboa form.  The addition of song to story gave you an understanding of what was really going on in Rocky’s head and heart during each scene.

Featuring the famous Rocky theme song and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” this adrenaline-fueled knockout musical about unwavering determination in the face of adversity will have you rooting for romance and cheering for the underdog.

To add to the pound-for-pound intensity of the show, I was given a special VIP pass for portion of the second act.  No spoilers about what the VIP pass entails, but if you are presented with the opportunity while you are in the audience, my suggestion is to take it.  Remember you won’t know unless you go!

Marching into March with New Movie Releases – Ralph Breaks the Internet and The Little Mermaid – Review and Giveaway

We'll start with the Disclaimer - Yes we did receive complimentary copies of these films, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance win them too! Enter the contest at the end of this post

March Movies from Disney

This March, Disney is giving everyone a (March) break with the Digital, DVD and BluRay releases of Ralph Breaks the Internet and The Little Mermaid.  With the arrival of these films on your favourite platforms, your family will have a fun time mixing a classic tale with a modern-day phenomenon.

Be Part of Ariel’s World with the 30th Anniversary Edition of The Little Mermaid

With the release of the 30th Anniversary Edition of The Little Mermaid, Disney is letting you become part of the Ariel’s world Under the Sea and on land in the new sing-along mode added to this film.  Along with the additional bonus features included you will be getting an inside look of this classic.  This film is wonderful story from beginning to end about being different and how finding your own path may not be the easiest at times but it will make you happy in the end.

Take A March Break and Watch How Ralph Breaks the Internet

Last year I was able to attend a special screening of Ralph Breaks the Internet and now I am just as excited to tell you that the Digital, DVD and BluRay version has lots of extras.  Just imagine being able to pause the film to see all the references and Disney Easter Eggs you may have missed when watching it the first time in the theatre? “Mind Blown” is the only way I can describe it! Wreck It Ralph and his best pal Vanellope meet a new society, also known as the internet, in this fast-paced fun film that shows you can support one another even if your opinions are very different.

Plus, as you know from the trailers, Ariel aka The Little Mermaid makes an appearance in Ralph Breaks the Internet!  This cross over makes a great segue from one film to the other.

Enter the rafflecopter contest below (it may take a minute to load) and tell us how you will be spending March Break. You may just win your own copy! (NOTE when commenting below it is best to be logged into your google account. After you click publish, it may take up to one minute for your comment to show.
