Alan Doyle and the Beautiful Gypsies @ Centre In The Square – Enter To Win

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive complimentary tickets, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance to attend the concert too! Enter the contest at the end of this post!

We’re so excited to hear that Alan Doyle will be at Centre In The Square on March 29th and here are 5 reasons why you should be excited too.

5 Reasons Why You Need To Be Excited About Alan Doyle Coming To Kitchener Ontario’s Centre In The Square

1.       He is the lead singer of Great Big Sea – I still remember watching the 90s Run Runaway video and being instantly pulled to the TV to hear this unique sounding band mixed in amongst the grunge and boy band tunes they were playing at the time.

2.       Known for touring Canada in all kinds of venues – The band made a stop at the Lyric in Kitchener and being amongst the crowd that night you knew they fed off the energy of the audience and they put on a fantastic show.

3.       Played alongside Russel Crowe in Robin Hood – Alan Doyle portrayed one of Robin Hood’s Merry Men in the feature film

4.       Alan Doyle made several guest appearances on CBC’s Republic of Doyle – He became a recurring character on one of my all-time favourite television shows

5.       Made a documentary about collaborating with others – By watching Boy On Bridge you will learn how technology is bringing those in the music industry closer together.

Grab Your Tickets for Alan Doyle and the Beautiful Gypsies Concert

Known as lead singer for Newfoundland’s beloved Great Big Sea these past 20+ years, released his second solo album, So Let’s Go, in January 2015. Title-track lead single So Let’s Go, is a rousing rallying cry that’s only further proof of Doyle’s ability to draw the listener under his banner. Equally adept at drawing a crowd, Alan Doyle & The Beautiful Gypsies are taking their energetic show across Canada and the US in Early 2017.

This show will be very popular, so be sure to visit https://centreinthesquare.com/event/alan-doyle and grab you tickets before they are gone!

Now that we have you excited for this performance, we want to give you a chance to win a pair of tickets to the show!

WINTERLOO Winterloo

Imagine experiencing different winter cultures, playing winter sports, learning winter survival tips and then staying warm by the fire. Find all this and more at Winterloo, taking place Feb. 24 - 26 in the West Side of Waterloo Park and at various UpTown Waterloo BIA businesses.

The ice slide is back! Developed in partnership with University of Waterloo's engineering program as part of the Winter Sports area, the slide will be built into the hill at Waterloo Park West near the bandshell. Take an icy slide or two and then try your hand at archery, snow soccer bubbles or snowshoeing. If you're feeling competitive, join the road hockey skills challenge.

A winter zombie attack could happen anytime in the Winter Survival area - be prepared! Build a snow fort, participate in a scavenger hunt and learn about general winter survival preparedness. These activities will take place in the wooded area of Waterloo Park West by the ball diamonds.

Head over to the Bauer Lot - across from Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex - for the famous Malamute dog sled rides in the Winter Cultures zone brought to you by Your Neighborhood Credit Union. Watch as talented artists convert blocks of ice into beautiful sculptures, and new this year - winter bikes! Take a spin on a bike meant for winter cycling, courtesy of the City of Waterloo active transportation committee.

When you've had enough outdoor fun, take a trolley ride from the Bauer Lot over to the Visitor and Information Heritage Centre to Stay Warm by the Fire at an outdoor fire pit while the kids jump around with JACK the Nimblebus. Inside the train station you'll find a puppet show, storytelling and more.

Be on the lookout for traditional favourites like the chili cook-off at Chainsaw, a movie screening at Princess Cinemas, skating demos in the public square by the KW Skating Club and more. There will be lots of food and outdoor vendors throughout the weekend as well.

Looking for some special time with your partner? Sharpen your skates and come out for Skate Night Date Night, Friday, Feb. 24 at Waterloo Public Square. This is a great way to kick off the festival weekend!

Winterloo is a community festival - there is something for all ages to enjoy. Grab your hat and mitts and join us for some winter fun!
