Family Day Long Weekend 2018 Events And Activities In The Kitchener Waterloo Area



This year Family Day is on Monday February 19, 2018 in Ontario Canada.  Here in Kitchener Waterloo and Area we celebrate all weekend long! Below is a list of events to keep your family busy for the whole Family Day Long Weekend! Kitchener Ice Pirates will be hosting annual Friendship Tournament February 17-18, 2017.  
The Kitchener Ice Pirates is a hockey program consisting of players with developmental delays, who range in age from five through to adults. The players have a wide variety of diagnoses, including; Autism, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Global Developmental Delays and more. We are affiliated with the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association and Hockey Canada.  The program now has four teams: Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Fundamentals of Hockey (each team being based on player ability, not age).

Join us at Lyle Hallman Pool for refreshments and activities from 1 - 4 p.m. and register for a free swim between 1:30 -2:30 p.m. or between 3 - 4 p.m. Swim wristbands will be available for either swim time starting at 1 p.m.

Adults must accompany children and swim admission guidelines are in effect.

Currently the top contact lens research centre in the world is continuing to accomplish great things through research done right here at UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO. The studies are non-invasive and all of our participants are compensated at $20/hr for their time and often get free contact lenses or glasses. Right they are recruiting 7-11 year olds to participate in a 3yr study cclr.uwaterloo.ca

Infant Studies Group
If you’re looking for something new and fun to do with your child, we would love to have you participate in one of our studies! Help us discover how children learn about language and the world around them. Typical studies involve a one time, half hour visit. Social Development Lab

Our lab is currently looking for children to help with our research! Our lab looks at personality and the social world for young children. Our study involves parents and their children coming into our lab and answering a few questions. Kids get to play some fun computer games as well! The typical sessions take around 2 hours and parents are always able to observe their child during the social interaction tasks. In appreciation of your time, children get a small gift. Youth Drum and Bugle Corps

Great program for youths in the KWC area. Our participants come not only from Cambridge, but Waterloo, Kitchener, Brantford, and surrounding areas as well. We are not the Scouts. We are not the Army, Navy or Sea Cadets. We are the only Youth Drum and Bugle Corps in the area!

No experience required and we have a modest membership fee ($20 per year). We provide a unique musical education program that not only teaches kids to play music or perform colour guard, we instruct them how to march, perform and basically just have fun! Be a snow angel! Keeping sidewalks free of ice and snow can be very challenging for older adults and people with limited mobility. As a snow angel, you can be good neighbour by clearing snow for those who need assistance. All you have to do is adopt a sidewalk and keep it clear when it snows. Watch for people in your neighbourhood who could use help removing snow and lend them a hand. It’s also a great opportunity for students to complete volunteer hours needed and to exercise outdoors! Session Details:

The purpose of the session is help families understand and respond to their baby’s sleep patterns and language, which will in turn strengthen family relationships and contribute to achieving optimal child health.

The screen will change to list the BOWL tickets for the Wednesday games.
The price will now be decreased to $12.50 per ticket but you need to buy them in quantities of 2 or you will get an error message (basically buy them in even numbers 2, 4, 6 etc)

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, the Kitchener Rangers will host the 11th annual Special Hockey Benefit Game which sees the Rangers take on the Kitchener Ice Pirates at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium at 6:15pm
Admission to the game is complimentary and monetary donations are welcomed at the door, with all proceeds benefiting the Kitchener Ice Pirates.
