✨Disney on Ice Dazzles in Kitchener✨

The enchantment of Disney was alive and sparkling at the Kitchener Auditorium this weekend, as Disney on Ice once again took to the rink. With a star-studded cast of beloved characters, the show was nothing short of a magical extravaganza. Let’s dive into some of the standout moments that left the audience spellbound.

🧜‍♀️ Ariel's Aerials  Ariel, The Little Mermaid dazzled as she gracefully ascended into the air, performing jaw-dropping aerial stunts that made the audience feel like they were swimming alongside her under the sea. Her ethereal presence and incredible acrobatics were a highlight for the night’s performances.


🧚 Tinkerbell's Flight Next up was Tinkerbell, who helped to open and close the show with her sparkling charm. The audience gasped in awe as she took flight, gracefully soaring above the rink. Her dazzling wings shimmered under the spotlight, creating an enchanting atmosphere that felt like stepping right into a fairytale.

✨ Aladdin and Jasmine's Ice Dance Genie and his magic continued with Aladdin and Jasmine’s breathtaking ice dancing routine. The chemistry between them was palpable as they glided effortlessly across the ice, their movements synchronized to perfection. The audience was transported to Agrabah, filled with romance and adventure.

🌊 Moana and Maui’s Voyage Moana and Maui’s segment brought the spirit of the ocean to the rink. Their sailing adventure was a visual treat, with stunning projections and captivating choreography that echoed their journey. Moana’s determination and Maui’s larger-than-life personality shone through, creating a thrilling and heartwarming performance.

❄️ Frozen’s Spectacular Frozen fans were in for a treat as Elsa, Anna, and favourites from Arendelle took center stage. From Elsa’s powerful rendition of "Let It Go" to Anna’s heartfelt moments, the icy spectacle had everyone singing along. Olaf’s comic relief and Kristoff’s ice crew stunts rounded out the perfect Frozen ensemble.

🎡 Classic Characters Unite Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy made sure the fun never stopped. Their playful antics and timeless charm had the audience of all ages smiling from ear to ear. The Toy Story gang joined in with Buzz, Woody, and Jessie showcasing their adventurous spirit, reminding everyone of the joy of friendship and imagination.

🎸 Miguel’s Melodious Magic Miguel from Coco arrived, bringing a burst of color and music to the ice. His vibrant performance celebrated family, culture, and the power of music, leaving the audience with astounded by the festival.


Disney on Ice in Kitchener was a mesmerizing blend of fantasy, spectacle, and nostalgia. Each character brought their unique flair to the ice, creating an unforgettable experience for Disney fans. Whether you were revisiting childhood favorites or discovering new heroes, the magic of Disney on Ice was an absolute delight to behold. 🌟

Kurt Browning's Final Tour with Stars on Ice Glided into Kitchener



As I mentioned months ago, Stars on Ice was coming to Kitchener and last night was the night!
Stars on Ice performed at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium last night and the arena was full of emotion.  Whether it was a joyful synchronized skate with the performers, a skate with a soundtrack theme, or a heartfelt moment as Kurt Browning said goodbye to fans and fellow skaters, the feelings of each program were amplified by the spectators and their reactions to all skates gliding by them.

This year's show brought thousands to The Aud to see the skating icons. The attendees were thrilled to see their favorites from the skating world take to the ice for a performance filled with thrilling twirls, flips, and a little funky fun courtesy of Jason Browne's Boy Band skate.  Elvis Stojko had everyone ready to JUMP, Patrick Chan expressed the feelings of becoming a father and Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier skated an emotionally charged tribute to Evita. Movie soundtracks played a prominent role in this year's Stars on Ice productions.  Songs from 007, A Star is Born and the aforementioned Evita delighted fans, but for many, the highlights were the tributes to Kurt Browning throughout the show. Kurt Browning announced earlier this year that after 30 Years of performing with Stars on Ice that this would be his last Stars on Ice tour. Both the skaters and the audience conveyed their appreciation for his dedication to the sport of skating with thunderous applause and standing ovations.

Founded in 1986 by skating icon and Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton, the Stars on Ice tour originated in the United States.  In 1991, Stars on Ice began to tour Canada and has now played more than 300 shows in the past 30+ years.  Past tour performers include Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, Brian Orser, Jamie Salé & David Pelletier, and Joannie Rochette.
As a long-time figure skating fan, I was excited to see these legendary skaters perform in Kitchener and look forward to the next time Stars of Ice comes back to our region.

The KW Titans Want to Fill Up The AUD



Yesterday we attended the KW Titans Media Day and it was great to see the players getting prepped for the season.

It began with a warm-up practice and then went into a lot of drills that tested the players' offensive and defensive skills. The energy was high as the KW Titans players are getting set for their first 2023 game in Sudbury on Family Day.

Later on, the team was introduced to Media, Sponsors and Community Owners.  There was a great mix of returning and new players all eager to win this year's National Basketball League of Canada's Championship.

The team will be back at The AUD on March 1st for the Home Opener and when I asked them what messages they had for the fans, they were all ready to see local support.  Some of the messages were "Come see the show" "Please come out" "Bring your friends" but the response that received the best reaction was "Fill Up The AUD"

Many of our readers know that we are passionate about the KW Titans.  Every year we provide Social Media Coverage of the games and assist with fan activations. We really enjoy the sense of community at the KW Titans games and are thrilled to announce that we will be officially stepping into Community Engagement roles. We really think volunteering with the team is something to celebrate!

The Canadian National Exhibition Returns to Toronto - What to See and Do in 2022 - CNE

 




Every time that I go to the Canadian National Exhibition to provide media coverage, I have new experiences!
Being that this was the return of the CNE after the hiatus, I wasn't sure what to expect at THE EX. Plus the fact that the day began with rain, it was going to be a different experience altogether.  

Don't Let a Little Rain Dampen Your Experience at the Ex

There is a lot to see and do at the CNE even when the weather doesn't cooperate.  The best place to head when it is raining is to the Enecare Centre.  This building hosts a variety of experiences for the whole family to enjoy.

There are daily shows at the International Stage and Cooking Stage


You can visit the Exhibits which included the Nook of Gnomes, National Geographic: The Greatest Wildlife Photographs, CNE Heritage: An Immersive Experience and more,




There is even an indoor drone and laser show - Nevaeh and the NorthStar - happening at various times. 


You will also find the Gaming Garage, the Superdogs Show and lots of Shopping opportunities.

As a plus during the rain, the Busker Stage and the Mascots were inside the Enecare Centre that day.


The Enecare Centre has something for everyone, but that is not the only indoor experience at the CNE.

The Farm is another great building with lots of fun exhibits. There are animals, educational demonstrations, and fun displays.




Other buildings you can visit at the CNE include The Food Building, the Arts, Crafts and Hobbies Building and The Withrow Common Gallery just to name a few.

Later in the day, the rain let up and I was able to grab a few outdoor pics and won a swag bag from the Shoppers Drug Mart booth.  






There is still lots to enjoy at the Canadian National Exhibition no matter the weather conditions.

Ron's Gone Wrong is a Film that Gets it Right

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive complimentary tickets to the advance screening of this movie, but this just means we're able to give you our opinion of the film.

In this brand new animated film, we come to learn that the Pudowski is struggling, They have a warehouse of novelty items that are not selling and they are usually hacking the grid to get electricity. This takes a toll on young Barney Pudowski. He is not very social with the other kids at Nonsuch Middle School, and when the B. Bot craze takes over he realizes his social status both online and offline won't improve unless he has B.Bot of his own. While the other kids are live-streaming, gaining likes and having video-game battles through their B. Bots, Barney gets sequestered to the Buddy Bench each recess and he finds it humiliating. When his family learns of the teasing that Barney is receiving, they find their own way to get B. Bot for Barney.  The problem is there is something a little off with this B. Bot.

“Ron’s Gone Wrong” is the story of Barney, a socially awkward middle-schooler and Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally-connected device, which is supposed to be his “Best Friend out of the Box.” Ron’s hilarious malfunctions set against the backdrop of the social media age, launch them into an action-packed journey in which boy and robot come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship. “Ron’s Gone Wrong” features the voices of Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, Ed Helms, Justice Smith, Rob Delaney, Kylie Cantrall, Ricardo Hurtado, Marcus Scribner, Thomas Barbusca.
We think this is a great film for families. It has funny moments, with lessons mixed in along the way. It touches on topics like data privacy, economic status, and empathy for others. Each lesson is learned through the lens of friendship and how Barney teaches Ron his B. Bot to be his friend but then Ron gets it right when it comes to how Barney should approach friendship as well. Ron's Gone Wrong is sure to have you talking about the film and your own family values when it comes to screen time, encouraging individuality and treatment of others.


Ron's Gone Wrong will be released in theatres on October 22, 2021 and we hope after seeing it you will share your thoughts on the film in the comments!

Raptors, Raccoons, Races and (Augmented) Reality Were All Themes at #CNE2019



As in prior years we love to tell our readers about the great experiences that happen each year at the CNE.   Last year the CNE brought a bright new exhibit to the Canadian National Exhibition. Legends of the Silk Road Come To Light is an astonishing indoor lantern festival that takes place daily at the CNE and this year the added Augmented Reality to the display.




The display has been moved to the arena for this year's event which is attached to the Enecare Centre.  Another switch is locations is the Butter Sculpture.  It has moved from the Farm Building to the Enecare Center, and if you are Disney and Marvel fans like we are, you are certain to be impressed by this year's projects.


Another display that has a new location is the sand sculpture.  This year's sand sculpture is all about the Toronto Raptors and can be found in the Farm building.



As shown in the instagram post the sand sculpture was not the only Raptors items we found around the CNE grounds.

If you are looking to find the Raccoons Reimagined, they are situated by the fountain.

If you think we have you racing around the CNE grounds, then take a seat and watch 2 different races happening at this year's CNE.

The first is the SUPERDOGS show that can be found in the Enecare Centre 

and the second is a new entry into the Canadian National Exhibition.  It is THE EX Race.  If you are a fan of the Ninja Warrior challenges then this competition show will be fun for you watch and it may inspire you to participate in an upcoming race too.

If racing isn't your thing, there are a variety of shows at the Busker Stage outside of the arena and the International Stage inside the Enecare Centre.

We took in acrobats with bikes, hoops and fire!

What treats did we have at the CNE?
With DOLE WHIPS of course.  Find them between the Busker Stage and the Bingo Tent.
