Social Development Lab
Our lab is currently looking for children to help with our research! Our lab
looks at personality and the social world for young children. Our study
involves parents and their children coming into our lab and answering a few
questions. Kids get to play some fun computer games as well! The typical
sessions take around 2 hours and parents are always able to observe their child
during the social interaction tasks. In appreciation of your time, children get
a small gift. To learn more about our lab and what we do, check out our

Cambridge, but Waterloo, Kitchener, Brantford,
and surrounding areas as well. We are not the
Scouts. We are not the Army, Navy or Sea
Cadets. We are a the only Youth Drum and Bugle
Corps in the area!
No
experience required and we have a modest membership fee ($20 per year). We
provide a unique musical education program that not only teaches kids to play
music or perform colour guard, we instruct them how to march, perform and
basically just have fun! Check us

Be a snow
angel! Keeping sidewalks free of ice and snow can be very challenging for older
adults and people with limited mobility. As a snow angel, you can be good
neighbour by clearing snow for those who need assistance. All you have to do is
adopt a sidewalk and keep it clear when it snows. Watch for people in your
neighbourhood who could use help removing snow and lend them a hand. It’s also
a great opportunity for students to complete volunteer hours needed and to
exercise outdoors! Learn more: www.kitchener.ca/snowangels

WINTERLOO
Winterloo
Imagine
experiencing different winter cultures, playing winter sports, learning winter
survival tips and then staying warm by the fire. Find all this and more at
Winterloo, taking place Feb. 24 - 26 in the West Side of Waterloo Park and at
various UpTown Waterloo BIA businesses.
The ice slide
is back! Developed in partnership with University of Waterloo's engineering
program as part of the Winter Sports area, the slide will be built into the
hill at Waterloo Park West near the bandshell. Take an icy slide or two and
then try your hand at archery, snow soccer bubbles or snowshoeing. If you're
feeling competitive, join the road hockey skills challenge.
A winter zombie
attack could happen anytime in the Winter Survival area - be prepared! Build a
snow fort, participate in a scavenger hunt and learn about general winter
survival preparedness. These activities will take place in the wooded area of
Waterloo Park West by the ball diamonds.
Head over to
the Bauer Lot - across from Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex - for the
famous Malamute dog sled rides in the Winter Cultures zone brought to you by
Your Neighborhood Credit Union. Watch as talented artists convert blocks of ice
into beautiful sculptures, and new this year - winter bikes! Take a spin on a
bike meant for winter cycling, courtesy of the City of Waterloo active
transportation committee.
When you've had
enough outdoor fun, take a trolley ride from the Bauer Lot over to the Visitor
and Information Heritage Centre to Stay Warm by the Fire at an outdoor fire pit
while the kids jump around with JACK the Nimblebus. Inside the train station you'll
find a puppet show, storytelling and more.
Be on the
lookout for traditional favourites like the chili cook-off at Chainsaw, a movie
screening at Princess Cinemas, skating demos in the public square by the KW
Skating Club and more. There will be lots of food and outdoor vendors
throughout the weekend as well.
