With Easter just days away we are happy (or should we say hoppy) to tell you all about the Waterloo Central Railway EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA TRAIN.  It departs THIS SATURDAY March 31, 2018 at 3 different times! Tickets are available for 10:10AM, 12:10PM and 2:10PM and you must PRE-BOOK your tickets to ensure you have seats.  It sounds like it will be such a fun day. REMINDER THE TRAIN DEPARTS AT 330 FARMERS MARKET RD WATERLOO (beside Value Village)

There will be a very special guests on board! The Easter Bunny and his friends! There will be live interaction with the Easter Bunny and other characters along with photo opportunities and treats. Easter colouring pages will be provided along with crayons to add to the thrill of the ride while you listen to a reading of the Peter Rabbit book.

While this location seemed smaller in size, it too had a wonderful atmosphere. What We Ate At The Chopped Leaf

We each both began with number one WHOLE BOWL and added items that we each wanted to try.

As a beverage with our meals we each had a Fresh Cold Pressed Juice with our meal! Our choice this time has citrus, turmeric and ginger.

Eating at The Chopped Leaf was an amazing experience and while we left feeling full, we didn't feel like we needed a nap.  The fresh vegetables and lean protein gave us energy to carry on with the rest of our day.

With choices like salads, juices, wraps, whole bowls and veggie rolls you can find something for everyone.  They even have a $5 kids menu to get your kiddos excited about eating healthy

Drayton Entertainment Brings Hairspray To New Heights In Cambridge

Grab your teasing comb and rat that hair as high as you can and you still won’t be able to match the new heights that Drayton Entertainment has achieved with their production of HAIRSPRAY THE BROADWAY MUSICAL. This is one show you will not want to miss!

From The Screen to The Stage

We have watched the story of HAIRSPRAY on the screen with 3 different ensembles.  The first being the original 1988 John Waters Film starring Ricki Lake, the 2007 film remake of the Broadway version of Hairspray and last year the televised Hairspray Live! This weekend we had the opportunity to see Hairspray The Broadway Musical on stage in Cambridge Ontario at the newly named Hamilton Family Theatre (best known to Drayton fans as the Dunfield Theatre before its recent name change).  We were delighted that the stage had been transformed to the 1960’s television studio where the CORNY COLLINS SHOW gave Tracy Turnblad her big break.  For those not familiar with the story of Hairspray, it’s about a young Baltimore girl that wanted to be on a television dance show but the social norms of that day and age made it a challenge for her.  Soon she learns that there are lots of other barriers that her and her friends must overcome, and she is just the gal to lead the charge.  While this is set in the 1960’s the themes of body image, ageism and racial discrimination highlighted in this show are still issues we deal with in today’s society.  Even though these are serious topics, the positive energy, catchy songs and comedic wit throughout Hairspray The Broadway Musical keeps the audience enthralled in the show from the moment it begins to the last dance scene at the very end.  There was even a moment when everyone in theatre cracked up including the actors playing Edna and Wilbur during their song and dance number.  We think it is wonderful that this sensational show is right here in our region giving everyone a chance to taste a bit of Broadway in our own backyard.

Blogging Moms Doing Big Things

Many of our readers know that we consider ourselves early adopters of social media.  Through those early days of blogging and posting we connected with many other Canadian Bloggers via twitter.  That is how we first connected with Maria Lianos-Carbone first known to us as @amotherworld.  Since those OG twitter days the term “Mom Blogger” has evolved into “Digital Influencer” and many of our early twitter connections have evolved themselves as well.  Today I am happy to announce that Maria has released her first book, Oh Baby! A Mom’s Self-care Survival Guide for the First Year and let me tell you why it was the book we wish we had around when we first became Moms.

Oh, Baby There Is A Lot of Info in This Book

From the time this book begins it makes you well aware that bringing home a new baby means there is a new reality waiting for you as soon as you leave the hospital.  All those preparations you thought were important quickly change once you experience your first sleepless night.  Maria’s book lets you know that you are not alone in the process and that many new parents are going through the same issues and emotions as you.  By taking the time to read each chapter you become aware of what that first year really entails.  Everything from swaddling to spit up is covered in this book.  Along with the quotes and advice from parents, you get a real picture of what “bringing home baby” is really like.  For me, the best piece of advice is the shopping list of items that every Mom should have when she returns home after labour.  Let’s just say in my case, it would have saved me a pit stop at Shoppers Drug Mart on my route home from the hospital.  Whether you are a first-time parent or looking for a fantastic Baby Shower Gift, this book fits the bill. It will be a welcome addition to those welcoming a new addition to their family.
