Many of our readers are familiar with the work of famous
Canadian Playwright Norm Foster. We have been to several of the Drayton
Entertainment plays written by him including last year’s productions of THE
MEN’S FOURSOME, THE
LADIES FOURSOME, and one of our favourites LOOKING.
This week we were invited to attend to attend Drayton
Entertainment’s production of Jonas and Barry in that Home that was not
only written by Norm Foster but also
starred Norm Foster in the role of Jonas.
The show is set on the outdoor patio of a seniors’ retirement
residence and while it mentions the others living in the establishment it is
acted through 3 characters, Barry, his daughter Rosemary who works there, and
new resident Jonas. Thorough these 3 people we see their views points on love
and marriage, divorce and new relationships, sickness and health, life and
death and how everyone deals with thoughts of aging. Together this trio inspire
each other to make the most of their current situations while encouraging each other to learn from their
past mistakes. Through their stories
you may laugh, and maybe shed a tear as you relate to each of these situations.
Jonas and Barry are as different as night and day. When the two men both
move into Gateway Gardens assisted living home, they unwittingly become fast
friends and look for ways to liven up the joint, while teaching each other some
important life lessons along the way.
