Contact Lens Research
Currently the top contact lens research centre in the world is continuing to accomplish great things through research done right here at UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO
The studies are non-invasive and all of our participants are compensated at $20/hr for their time and often get free contact lenses or glasses.
Right they are recruiting 7-11 year olds to participate in a 3yr study

If you’re looking for something new and fun to do with your child, we would love to have you participate in one of our studies! Help us discover how children learn about language and the world around them. Typical studies involve a one time, half hour visit. Pan Am Torch Relay continues its Journey June 19th, from THEMUSEUM on King St in Kitchener.
The event begins at 10 a.m. at THEMUSEUM and will feature Patchi, the official mascot of the games. The Torch will be lit indoors and continue its journey to the Games through Waterloo Region.
The Pan Am flame was lit on May 25th during an official ceremony in Teotihuacan, Mexico before arriving in Canada on May 30th. The
Pan Am Games Torch Relay is a 41 day journey through more than 130 communities taking place from May 30th to July 10th, 2015. The
Pan Am Games will take place in
Toronto from July 10th to 26th, 2015.

From Campfire to Fireflies
Shade's Mills Conservation Area, 450 Avenue Rd., Cambridge
School’s out and it’s time to stay up late. We’ll kick off the summer vacation period with a campfire and marshmallow roast. After when it is dark, we will search our fields for the elusive firefly beetle. Perhaps we will catch one and examine it up close. Please wear close-toed shoes. Mosquito repellent recommended. We will supply the marshmallows and roasting sticks.

Citizen Science Bug Safari
Guelph Lake Conservation Area, 7743 Conservation Dr., Guelph
Be a citizen scientist for the afternoon and join our nature guide as we chase, catch and identify insects in all their life stages. With luck we will find Monarch Caterpillars on milkweed plants. We will record our findings and submit them to the various citizen science programs including Pollination Canada. We will learn some fascinating insect facts too. This activity will be fun for all ages. Check out the future home of the Guelph Lake Nature Centre and help us learn what bugs live there. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Splash'N Boots began in Kingston, Ontario in 2003. It was there, while attending Queen’s University, that Taes and Nick performed their first concert together at the local Central Library as part of a class project. During that fifteen minute show Splash'N Boots was born! Splash'N Boots continued performing in the Kingston area, and then took the leap into their first big puddle by releasing their debut album
Getting our Feet Wet. Since then Splash’N Boots has received 2014 and 2015 JUNO Award Nominees for Children’s Album of the Year and have performed over 1200 shows in the last 10 years across Canada from Coast to Coast and around the worl. Internationally recognized with performances in sold out venues in Australia, Bermuda, Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Spain and California, Splash’N Boots have shared the stage with The Wiggles and the Wiggles Characters, Fred Penner, Sharon and Bram, Robert Munsch, Al Simmons, Max and Ruby as well as Canadian astronaut, Commander Chris Hadfield.

Luckily Heidi Hood, the second cousin twice removed of Little Red, is brave enough to see past this wolf's bad press and an unlikely friendship is born.
