For those who follow me on Facebook, you have noticed my updates regarding my Dad.  This summer he was diagnosed with both lung and bone cancer and is currently receiving treatment.  In addition several of my friends have had cancer touch their lives this summer as well.  Each of our affected loved ones are each suffering from a different form of cancer.  Because of the different affected areas and treatments, we are unable to really compare notes but we support each other online.  Knowing that you can reach out online to someone is a similar situation can be both a comfort and a motivator.  That is why we are asking you to please join us online at 8:00pm on August 26, 2015 for the #OneWalkShoeSelfie twitter party.

Beauty Gives Back For #WinkDay

Wink If You're With Us

Cancer is something that has touched our lives.  That is why I have always supported causes in my community to help in the fight against it.  When I made the video below on Monday, I had no idea that Tuesday I would get some news that would change everything for one member of my family.  While I don't have the full story yet, the idea of what might happen weighs very heavy on me as I am typing this post.  Yet it will not stop me from encouraging others to support everyone fighting to beat the cancer blues.

Paint your eyes blue to support women suffering from cancer blues. Create a video like this one and encourage your friends to do the same. Visit http://beautygivesback.ca
for details.

ABOUT #WINKDAY

On June 18, 2015, the beauty industry will be encouraging women to buy a blue eyeliner/eye shadow, and for one day, to colour their eyes blue in support of women going through the emotional trauma of the Cancer Blues. The Cancer Blues - a term for the emotional distress caused by cancer and its treatment is an oft-ignored consequence of the disease that can affect a woman's ability to fight and endure through this difficult ordeal. Isn't it time to help?

Need to know more? I suggest watching the video below

Then sign up on the twubs page for the Twitter party.

Twitter Party For #WinkDay

Be sure to join the #winkday Twitter party June 15,2015 #beatthecancerblues #cancerblues #bbloggers #makeup #eyeshadow

If you make a video like I did please post the links in the comments as I would like the opportunity to see your eyes painted blue too.

Jesse Labelle And The Big Picture Project Heads To Waterloo Ontario

Seeing The Big Picture

Last month I had the opportunity to see Jesse Labelle speak on a social etiquette panel put together by my friend Neil Hedley.  It was a panel about kindness in the social sphere and what I referred to as GUT CHECK MOMENT at Blissdom Canada
That panel made such an impact on the bloggers in attendance that all you need to Google is Jesse Labelle Blissdom Canada and you will get pages of sites listing each person's perspective of what went on during that panel. Jesse Labelle spoke about the trolls online and how he deals with that kind of situation. The statement that he made that stuck with the majority of us was

"You can really fight hate with love"

After the event I learned that Jesse meant these words when I started to see info pop up about The Big Picture Project and how it ws founded by Jesse Labelle in 2008, The Big Picture Project is a not-for-profit organization that strives to raise awareness and support for The Sirua Aulo Academy in Transmara, Kenya.

This month Jesse Labelle will be performing in Waterloo at Maxwell's Music House in support of The Big Picture project. Tickets are just $10 in advance on Ticketscene.ca and

All proceeds go towards raising awareness and funds to support The Sirua Aulo Academy in Transmara, Kenya.

For $10 you will get to see a concert with local musicians as well as an acoustic performance by Jesse Labelle, all while helping this very worthy cause. See you there!
Please note this is a 19+ event

For more information visit MaxwellsMusicHouse.ca where you can learn about this and other upcoming shows. Below are some of Jesse Labelle's music videos. Have a listen and then get your tickets before they are gone!
