December 2023 Brings Merry Movies and Holiday Events to Apollo Cinema

The holiday season is synonymous with many traditions, and for movie enthusiasts, that often includes revisiting timeless classics that capture the magic and joy of Christmas. This December, Apollo Cinema is bringing the festive spirit to the screen with heartwarming holiday movies with a focus on three iconic films: "Home Alone," "Christmas Vacation," and "Miracle on 34th Street" (1947) in addition to their celebrated All-You-Can-Eat Cereal and Cartoons event.

December 2
Saturday Morning All-You-Can-Eat Cereal Cartoon Party December Edition!
It is a special time when kids and kids-at-heart get to relive the exciting Saturday Morning ritual of non-stop retro cartoons, and binge on the multi-coloured sugary cereals that used to be a part of every “balanced” breakfast!

December 9, 10 and 12
Christmas Vacation (1989):
For those seeking a dose of holiday hilarity, "Christmas Vacation" delivers in spades. Directed by John Hughes, this installment of the Griswold family saga follows Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase, as he attempts to create the perfect Christmas for his family. From tangled Christmas lights to an unexpected visit from eccentric relatives, the film is a riotous exploration of the trials and tribulations of holiday celebrations. With its memorable one-liners and chaotic family dynamics, "Christmas Vacation" has become a laugh-out-loud classic that perfectly captures the unpredictable nature of the season.

December 17
Miracle on 34th Street (1947):
Stepping back in time to the golden era of Hollywood, "Miracle on 34th Street" (1947) is a heartwarming tale that has stood the test of time. Directed by George Seaton, the film tells the story of Kris Kringle, a department store Santa Claus who claims to be the real Santa. As he faces skepticism and a courtroom trial, the film explores themes of faith, belief, and the true spirit of Christmas. Edmund Gwenn's portrayal of Kris Kringle earned him an Academy Award, and the film remains a cherished classic that captures the magic of the holiday season in a way that resonates with audiences of all ages.

December 20
Home Alone (1990) with CHEESE PIZZA!
"No place like home for the holidays" takes on a whole new meaning in the beloved classic "Home Alone." Directed by Chris Columbus and starring Macaulay Culkin as the resourceful Kevin McCallister, this film has become a holiday staple for generations. When Kevin is accidentally left behind by his family during Christmas vacation, he must defend his home from two burglars using ingenious booby traps. The film's mix of slapstick humor, heartwarming moments, and the joy of family reconciliation make it a perennial favorite that continues to bring laughter to households worldwide.
This showing comes with a slice of cheese pizza!!!

These Merry Movies will be family crowd pleasers!

Safety Tree Makes Summer A Breeze – Enter To Win

We'll start with the Disclaimer - Yes this is a sponsored post, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance to win a free safety class from Safety Tree! Enter the contest at the end of this post

I remember going to movies in the 80s to see the film ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING.  It was comedy about a teenager having to babysit and the crazy night that took place.

In the film, there was a boy who should have been old enough to stay home and watch his younger sister but because he didn’t have a mature attitude his parents felt the need to have a babysitter for them.  The babysitter made it seem like the trouble they got into that night was because of the kids, but it really started with her not making good choices to begin with.

Fast forward to today and kids have ways to prepare for both of these situations thanks to Safety Tree. This summer forget the chaotic storm of what to do the days parents need to be away.  Instead enjoy the summer breeze and know that your children are prepared to handle this situation.

Summer Break is almost here! Are you looking to sign up your kids for activities while they are off school? As mentioned in our SAFETY TREE CLASSES FOR KIDS post, Safety Tree offers classes to prepare them for the challenges of being home alone.

Start 2017 Safely With Safety Tree Classes For Kids - Enter To Win

Last week the weather outside was frightful and inside it was so delightful, and while schools were open buses were cancelled.  This makes it quite difficult for parents to make last minute arrangements and having to decide if they should keep their kids at home, drive their children to school or find the best way to walk there in the blustery conditions.

We have several more weeks of winter to deal with and now is the time to start thinking about 2017 snow days and bus cancellations.  Are your kids ready to be home alone? Safety Tree can help you with the decision making process.  They have options to help prepare your kids to home alone and they also offer classes during the holiday break to keep your kids occupied.  Think of it as a DAY CAMP to prepare for the next snow storm.
