Making Sure That #BirthdaysCount

“Disclosure: I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program with Enbridge and I received
Compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.”

Bring On The Birthday Celebrations

Birthday celebrations are incredibly important! Not only do they mark the date of when someone arrived on the planet, they also give you a reason to gather with family and friends. Finding time in everyone's busy schedule can be challenging but its always worthwhile. The earlier you start arranging the celebration the easier it is to coordinate schedules. My birthday is next month but I already have my birthday party plans in order!

Make Your Next Birthday Party Count With These Suggestions

According to recent Enbridge survey data, 91% of Canadians think it’s important to celebrate birthdays of family and friends. They also found 82% of people felt more special when someone put energy into their birthday.
Although birthday parties can take a lot of time and energy they are worth the effort! Remember the more prepared you are for the birthday celebration, the smoother the day will go, which means a lot more fun for everyone!  Here are a few birthday party planning tips

Set The Date
  • Choose a date that does not conflict with other events (IE anniversaries, long weekends, community celebrations)
  • Give your guests plenty of notice so they can make arrangements
Choose A Venue
  • Will it be at your home, a local restaurant, or a fun place to celebrate
  • If outside of your home be sure to contact the venue and make reservations before it gets booked up
Select A Theme
  • Create a playlist around that theme
  • Invite guests to dress according to the theme
  • Select food and beverages around that theme (including the cake, but more on that below)

100 Birthday Celebrations That Take The Cake

Enbridge set out to celebrate 100 birthdays! See what happens in the video below

Imagine all the energy it took to bake 100 cakes?

Let's Get The Party Started

Be sure to join the #BirthdaysCount twitter party Friday August 14th. You have a chance to WIN A VISA GIFT CARD!
Calling all shutterbugs: Get your photos ready!
Share a picture during the party of your favourite birthday memory, a hilarious birthday picture fail, or your favourite birthday party and you will be eligible to win one of five $25 Visa Gift Cards!
PARTY DETAILS
Date: Friday, August 14th at 12pm EST
Hashtag: #BirthdaysCount
Hosts: @PTPA @PTPAAmy @PTPA_Kelsi
RSVP at buff.ly/1TkVRF4.

Do you have a birthday party planning suggestion or a comment about the video above? I'd love to hear it! Tweet it to me @Those2Girls and be sure to use the hashtag #BirthdaysCount

Marking The Drayton Festival Theatre's 25th Anniversary With The Music Man

Time To Strike Up The Band And Celebrate 25 Years Of Drayton Entertainment

It was a wonderful day for the Drayton Festival Theatre 25th Anniversary Celebration! From the moment you walked towards this historic building, for the invite only celebration, you knew something fantastic was going to happen.

The outdoor area  had memory wall was set up to view images of the productions that the Drayton Festival Theatre has hosted over the past 25 years.  Many were taking in the images and reiniscing about the theatrical productions they were part of and/or attended over the years.

There were other items throughout the premises also marking this occasion as well.

When it was time to take our seats inside we were treated to stories about the historic building and how a community saved it from demolition and how Drayton Entertainment came to be.

Then audience was delighted with the musical production of THE MUSIC MAN with David Rogers in lead role and several Drayton alumni rounding out the fantastic cast.

After the show attendees were invited to an outdoor reception where many of the familiar faces of Drayton Entertainment gathered to greet one another.

More About The Music Man

This show is family friendly with lots of memorable songs, high kicking dance steps and one liners for comic relief!

The Music Man features top-notch theatrical talent.David Rogers delivers a magnetic performance as the smooth-talking Professor Harold Hill, a role he was born to play. As one of Canada’s top leading men, Rogers has star power in spades. His charisma is effortless and he holds the audience in the palm of his hand from start to finish. His gorgeous voice shows remarkable range and versatility in songs such as “Ya Got Trouble,” “Seventy-Six Trombones,” and “Marian the Librarian.”
Fresh from her starring role as Roxie Hart inChicago, leading lady Jayme Armstrong shows her softer side as the sensible and sweet Marian Paroo, the town’s prim librarian. Her lovely soprano voice shines in memorable songs like “Goodnight, My Someone” and “My White Knight.” Rogers and Armstrong, who worked together as Jean Valjean and Fantine inLes Misérables, have palpable chemistry and their terrific voices blend beautifully in the iconic song “Till There Was You.”
Valerie Boyle is witty and warm as Marian's feisty Irish mother Mrs. Paroo. Eleven-year-old Declan Cooper steals every scene he’s in as Marian's adorable little brother,Winthrop, earning applause for his cute and comedic rendition of the song “Gary, Indiana.”
Audience favourite Wade Lynch is funny and charming as Marcellus Washburn, a plucky reformed con man who becomes Harold’s best friend and ally. Rogers and Lynch have a spirited rapport, playing off each other with ease – they seem to be having a ball together on stage and the energy is infectious.
Drayton Entertainment veteran Keith Savage is hilarious as Mayor Shinn, bringing his signature comedic charm and goofy facial expressions to the ridiculous role.Karen K. Edissi is equally hilarious as his silly and self-important wife, Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn, who is determined to be in the spotlight. Danielle Benton is bubbly and bright as the Mayor’s petulant teenage daughter, Zaneeta, who is in love with the town troublemaker Tommy Djilas, played with zeal by Graeme Goodhall.
Fan favouritesThe Mantini Sisters put their stellar voices to good use as the ladies of River City, particularly in the song “Pick-a-Little, Talk-a-Little” –Barbara Mantini as Maud Dunlop, Sandra Mantini as Mrs. Squires and Ann Mantini as Alma Hix – along with Christina Gordon as the friendly and sincere piano player, Ethel Toffelmier.

Girls Hockey Day
Activa Sportscomplex
Gold Medal winning Olympians Cheryl Pounder and Becky Kellar will be joining us again for the Play It Again Sports Try Hockey event at 2:15. This event allows girls who have never tried the sport to come out and skate with 2 Olympians for free. We even provide the equipment! To make this even more special, Carlos Benevedes from the 91.5 The Beat morning show will be putting on his blades to skate with the girls as well. Come out to meet them, see their gold medals, and get some autographs.
