AJ Bridel As Dorthy Has Us Over The Rainbow

When it was released that AJ Bridel would be playing the role of Dorthy in Drayton Entertainment's WIZARD OF OZ, we'd say we were over the moon, but we think OVER THE RAINBOW is better suited for this post!



We were big fans of AJ as she competed on CBC's Over The Rainbow (see why by watching the above video) and were lucky enough to have here appear at one of our events shortly after here time on the show.  Since then we  have been to see her in Drayton Entertainments productions of OLIVER! and PETER PAN.  Last Friday we had the opportunity to attend THE WIZARD OF OZ at the  Dunfield Theatre in Cambridge and it was truly magical. From the elaborate costumes to the musical numbers and the wizardery of the whole show was mezmorizing!

The Wizard of Oz is an adaptation of the classic 1939 Hollywood film, which starred Judy Garland as Dorothy. The film garnered worldwide acclaim and won the 1939 Academy Award for Best Song for “Over The Rainbow.” L. Frank Baum wrote the first stage version of his novelThe Wonderful Wizard of Oz in 1903. The musical, adapted by John Kane from the Warner Bros movie, was premiered by the Royal Shakespeare Company at London's Barbican Centre in 1987.
