First Tee Returns with a Fall Golf Program for Kids! Financial Assistance Available

INFO BELOW
With the success of the earlier First Tee Program, I am happy to announce that there will be a Fall First Tee Program for Kids in the Kitchener-Waterloo area!

First Tee is a grassroots youth development program that serves the purpose of breaking down barriers between the sport of golf and children from equity-deserving and underrepresented communities. First Tee – Canada strives to make the sport of golf in Canada better reflect the multiculturalism of our country, introducing children of all backgrounds to the sport in a variety of accessible ways. First Tee programs are made accessible as they are offered at little to no cost at participating golf facilities, and all equipment is provided for the participants during the sessions. The First Tee Program uses golf as a vehicle to teach children life skills such as respect, integrity, honestly, and leadership. This program is for beginners of golf and focuses on fundamental skills, so the participants do not need any prior knowledge of the sport to join!

GolfPlay Inc. (an indoor golf simulator facility located at 80 Lodge St. in Waterloo) is running a six-week First Tee Fall Program, beginning on Saturday, October 14th and ending with the last session on Saturday, November 18th. This six-week program will run on Saturdays from 9:00am-10:00am and is available to 12 participants ages 7 to 13. GolfPlay’s First Tee Program costs $120 total ($20 per session), with financial assistance available to those who need it. Click this link to access registration as well as a link to learn more about financial assistance eligibility.

If you have any questions please email firstteeontario@golfcanada.ca.

We look forward to hearing from the participants First Tee to see how much they enjoyed it!

The Drayton Entertainment Female Force Comes To Play In Norm Foster’s The Ladies Foursome

It’s time to hit the green once again with Drayton Entertainment’s THE LADIES FOURSOME.  This follow up to Norm Foster’s THE MEN’S FOURSOME, a production they performed earlier this theatre season, has brought audiences back to the St. Jacob’s Country Playhouse for more guffaws on the golf course.  Unlike The Men’s Foursome which had the fellas reminiscing after a University reunion, these gals are playing a round in honour of friend that had just passed away.  Three of the four ladies knew each other through weekly golf games with the deceased and the fourth was the owner of a vacation spot that the recently departed stayed at annually.  Each of the women had very different personalities, jobs, dreams and family issues, but these issues were looked at with fresh eyes as each topic came to light throughout the course of the day.  Most of the conversations were met with a bit of sarcasm and someone pointing out the obvious to another that was oblivious.  Tension was met with humour and ultimately each of the ladies left the day feeling more supported and accomplished than when she arrived.

You don’t need to be a golf pro or even an amateur to appreciate Drayton Entertainment’s THE LADIES FOURSOME and with the LPGA heading to the area later this month for the Manulife Classic, this play will help you get into the swing of things!

Regular performance tickets are $44.00 for adults; $26.00 for youth under 20 years of age. Tickets for groups of 20 or more are $36.00. HST is applicable to all ticket prices.

The Ladies Foursome runs through August 27. Tickets can be purchased in person at the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse, online at www.stjacobscountryplayhouse.com or by calling the Box Office at (519) 747-7788 or toll free at 1-855-drayton (372-9866).
