Moms’ Day Out – Mindfulness Workshop Day Retreat @ KPL

We'll start with the Disclaimer - Yes, we did receive complimentary tickets, but this just means we're able to make you aware of this amazing event happening locally!

After the back to school rush, and before the Christmas Season prep begins we think it is a great time to stop, take a breath and learn to be more MINDFUL.
According to Wikipedia, Mindfulness is a process of bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment

Becoming more mindful can change the way people think and react to situations.  To learn more about this practice we are attending a Mindfulness Workshop Day Retreat for Women.
It takes place on Saturday October 27, 2018 from 9:30am-4pm at the Kitchener Public Library Central Branch, 85 Queen St. N. Kitchener. It will be held in Room A, which is downstairs at the Downtown KPL branch.

The cost to attend the day long event is $90 which may be covered by some health benefits programs.  This event includes mindfulness training, meditation and lunch!
This workshop will be led by Dr. Angele Close

Dr. Angele Close is a Clinical Psychologist and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. She is currently studying under the tutelage of world-renowned teachers, Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, in their 2-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program. She has been practicing Mindfulness Meditation for 15 years and has been integrating the practices and teachings of awareness and compassion in her clinical work for over a decade.

We think this is a great opportunity for Moms to invest time in themselves and enjoy connecting with other women in our community. We believe we can all benefit from being more mindful and we hope you will join us at the event.

International Women’s Day 2017 #BeBoldForChange

I have been writing about INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY for several years now on my personal blog.  Then it dawned on me that the video that I keep sharing in the previous posts was created in 2011 and yet things do not seem to have changed much since then.  Please take a few minutes of your day to watch this video and listen to the message.

Can you believe that video was from 2011 and yet women are still dealing with these issues in 2017?!?!?!

That is why this year I decided to #BeBoldForChange and posted this on our blog with the higher readership.  Perhaps this International Women’s Day you will decide to take action.  All you need to do is head to https://www.internationalwomensday.com and click YES I’M IN. To make it even easier, I have embedded the widget at the end of this post.
Whether you decide to make changes in how you approach these issues or set aside time to discuss them with your family, know you are making a difference. Small steps or big leaps, do whichever is best for you and the people you care about. Perhaps next year I’ll be able to post about all the progress that was made in 2017.

Destiny's Child Had It Right

"Ladies Leave Your Man At Home" This famous line from Jumpin' Jumpin' might date back to 1999 but it still is one of the best songs to rally the gal pals for the Ultimate Girls Day Out!

Now you might not be hitting the clubs anymore, so we suggest heading to the National Women's Show with your group of friends! We have been hooked ever since the first time we attended the event in 2007. We had a blast and we ended up on stage with Diane chopping off my hair!

Don't worry that wasn't the end result. Once the stylists were done was thrilled with my new "DO"

Last year involved us winning Summer Fresh Dips and Sauces. You just never know what will happen!

Because we are pretty much up for anything fun, it's an event we always look forward to. Perhaps that is why we have been chosen to be an OFFICIAL NATIONAL WOMEN'S SHOW BLOGGER!
