Did you know that Start.ca Rocks The Park is also a fundraiser?

Jones Entertainment Group initially created Rock the Park to raise funds for Bethanys Hope Foundation in progressing research for Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). When the effects of this terrible disease hit close to home, claiming the life of seven year old Bethany McIntyre, friendship and hope came together with the vision to “Rock for a Cure”. In the first twelve years of the festival, through the support of dedicated fans and a love for music, Rock the Park proudly reached over $2.2 million dollars in hopes of finally finding a cure. In 2016, Bethany’s Hope Foundation shifted gears and stepped away from Rock the Park in order to concentrate fully on a national awareness and family support campaign that will take the organization from coast to coast over the next three years. JEG is extremely proud of the progress and success Bethany’s Hope Foundation has achieved thus far, and wishes all the best and future success to their entire team. With that said, JEG is thrilled to have Big Brothers Big Sisters of London & Area, Humane Society of London & Middlesex, and Western Football as our charitable partners of choice. To date, Rock the Park has now raised over $3.5 million for local charities.

You can learn more about the event on the History of Rock the Park page and the FAQ

Big Music Fest Recap - Media Coverage

It Was A REALLY BIG SHOW

Big Music Fest returned to Kitchener for the second year in a row and we were there to cover the event.  This year's festival turned out to be a one day event, but they packed it with a lot of punch!

Big Music Fest began with last year's BREAKING BANDS winner THE MODERN HEARTS.  There is no doubt in my mind that you'll be hearing a lot more from this fantastic band in the upcoming months.

Next up was the only group with a female band member, The Mohrs

Then we had The Mayor Of Kitchener aka @BerryOnline welcome everyone to Big Music Fest.

After that, the most energenic band of the day, THE GLORIOUS SONS set the tone for the rest of the festival.  They really got everyone up and moving during their set!

They even managed to get the crowd to sing along to MAMA (remember this was in the middle of the afternoon, when everyone was headed to the beer garden, so I call that a concert win for The Glorious Sons).

Then it was flashblack time, (remember I mentioned I went to their concert back when they first hit it big) with a high energy performance by EXTREME

Next came Canadian faves MONSTER TRUCK to stage.  They took the crowd by storm with their amp'd up show.

Then the crowd came pouring in when JANE'S ADDICTION hit the Big Music Fest stage.

and I was able to take what I have deemed as THE PIC OF THE DAY! Hello @DaveNavarro!

The show finished off with headliners SOUNDGARDEN, and with no encores (by any of the bands) it did leave the crowd wanting more.

While this year's Big Music Fest was very different from last year's event it still was a BIG WIN for Kitchener, Ontario Canada.  If more big name acts see that the Region of Waterloo supports the music scene then we will certainly see more bands wanting to play here.  Plus this gives young talent in the area more exposure to mentors in the music industry.  We see it as win-win for both musicians and fans!

#ICYMI here's 100+ photos of Big Music Fest. Read more about #BMF2015 at http://stufftodowithyourkidsinkw.blogspot.ca/2015/07/big-music-fest-recap-media-coverage.html

Tickets And Wristbands For Big Music Fest

Still need to grab your tickets?  Well there are a few options available.
Visit http://bigmusicfest.com/tickets-and-wristbands/ to get yours now.  You'll be rocking out to these great band and more!

I had the opportunity to see Extreme years ago when Canada's Wonderland still held Kingswood Music Theatre concerts.  They had a lot of great energy and had the whole crowd up dancing.

Jane's Addicition singer Perry Farrel created Lolapalooza so you know they are all about going big for music festivals.

If you watch facebook you know I'm a big fan of Chris Cornell in all of his music incarnations (I always say Be Yourself by Audioslave is my theme music). Whether it be his solo career, Audioslave or joining forces with other artists, it all stems from breaking into the music industry as the lead singer of Soundgarden.

Plus you'll get to see all of these bands too
