Motivators and Mentors Make Cars 3 Memorable – Enter To Win - Canada Only

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive complimentary copy for review, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance to attend the win a copy too! Enter the contest at the end of this post!

One of my favourite Disney films was the first installment of CARS.  It was an exciting movie and had such a great story line.  Seeing how Lightning McQueen learned classic racing techniques from Doc Hudson was a turning point in that film.  Many don’t realize that Doc Hudson was voiced by the late great Paul Newman.  It was one of his last movie roles before he passed away in 2008.  Eleven years after the first CARS film, the third movie highlights much of Doc’s wisdom and positive influence that he bestowed upon McQueen. So much so that Lightning McQueen takes on more mentors and motivators after he has difficulty finding his way back to the racetrack.

Each one of these new coaches change roles throughout the movie as well.  Some become coaches for a new team and some even become part of the team.  Even McQueen finds himself in some role reversal situations.

With echoes of the first Cars film, you will be brought back to Lightning McQueen’s arrival at his now home in Radiator Springs.  Don’t worry if you have watched the previous films or not, CARS 3 holds its own in this trilogy making it a film your whole family will enjoy.

Lightning McQueen Through The Years

Many of our readers know just how much we enjoy the CARS films!  Lightning McQueen has made many appearances on this blog, whether it be about the films, on ice or in person (or I guess that would mean in vehicle form).  We have been following Lightning McQueen throughout the years.  Because we know how excited our readers are about Lightning McQueen we are thrilled to say that we have a copy of CARS 3 to giveaway!

We are giving away a copy of CARS 3! Just enter the Rafflecopter contest below (it may take a minute to load) and be sure to leave a comment at the bottom of this post with which Cars character(s) you are a fan of.

Disney Pixar’s COCO Will Have You Planning Your Next Family Reunion

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive complimentary tickets, but this just means we're able tell you all about the film!

Reunited and it Feels So Good

Earlier this month we had the opportunity to attend and advance screening to Disney Pixar’s COCO.  We had to wait until the opening weekend to tell you all about it, and now that it’s here we want to ensure you know how much we enjoyed this movie.

This adventure takes Miguel to the “Land of Your Ancestors” to discover his family’s legendary musical past.

COCO: Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colourful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history. Directed by Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”), co-directed by Adrian Molina (story artist “Monsters University”) and produced by Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”), Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” opens in theatres on Nov. 22, 2017.

We loved this movie.  The way the “Land of Your Ancestors” had such a different look than the scenes taking place in the present was just one of the fantastic highlights. There were lots of comedic moments, transformations throughout the film and beautiful music that had you swaying in your seat.

This film will have you looking forward to your next family gathering. With the holiday season upon us, COCO will have you looking forward to creating memories with your family and perhaps it will even have you planning a family reunion or Day of the Dead celebration!

Drayton Entertainment Will Enchant You with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

Last night we had the opportunity to attend the Drayton Entertainment production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge (soon to be known as Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge).  It was quite a spectacle to see the “tale as old as time” performed live.  Every detail from character physicality to costume design was on point.  Together with collection of classic songs and scenes set throughout the enormous set, it transported the audience from the Provincial town to the Enchanted castle as the story unfolded before them.

In true Drayton Entertainment form, and much like the live action film, the performance gave way to a range of emotions.  There were moments of laughter, tears and heartfelt joy as Belle and the Beast where brought together and torn apart with the assistance of the servants in the castle and Gaston praising townsfolk.  There was even a dance scene with clinking steins that you will want to re-create at your next Oktoberfest celebration! With all of these stage elements blended with the well-known fairy tale, we believe this is an enchanting theatrical performance that your whole family will enjoy.

Since its Broadway premiere in 1994, Beauty and the Beast has become one of the most successful screen-to-stage adaptations of all time, grossing over $1.4 billion in 13 countries. The Broadway musical garnered nine Tony nominations, boasting a win for Best Costume Design and becoming the tenth longest-running Broadway production in history with 5,461 performances between 1994 and 2007. A production in London’s West End subsequently opened in 1997 and the show has continued to tour internationally as well as being produced at regional theatres worldwide.

Create A Christmas Memory with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

It was announced last night that Drayton Entertainment has extended the show and that a NEW BLOCK OF TICKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

This spellbinding musical is now running until the beginning of January! We think this will make a wonderful Christmas gift and give you the opportunity to create a Christmas memory this year.

Bingemans Brings Back The #GiftOfLightsKW For The 2017 Holiday Season

On November 16th we once again attended the Bingemans Gift Of Lights Media Event to see this wonderful light display. Being the second time attending, we figure it is now a Christmas tradition!

A Mix of Old and New For This Year’s Gift of Lights at Bingemans

After enjoying our trek through last year’s Gift Of Lights we were excited to see this year’s collection of Christmas Lights.  As we travelled through the two-kilometer light show we came along new displays as well as some of the favourites from last year.  This includes Diane’s favourite the tumbling penguins.

It was great to see the mix of old and new while we cruised through the twinkling lights.  To give you an idea of what last year’s Gift Of Lights entailed, watch the video below

As you can see there are already some big changes happening during this year’s event.

An Event for Everyone

While many outdoor Christmas light events require you to park your vehicle and walk through their display, this light show keeps you warm and toasty inside the comfort of your own vehicle.

You won’t have to worry about bad weather, deep snow and/or slippery pathways.  This is a relief to many seniors and those with accessibility concerns.  We believe this makes the Gift of Lights an event for everyone!

Bask in the Glow of the Glittering Lights

You will want to experience the Gift of Lights first hand.  Grab your family, friends or co-workers and descend upon the winding trail of this display all while enjoying the Christmas music being played on your vehicle’s radio and get a chance to bask in the glow of this glittering light show. The Gift of Lights is now open evenings until January 6, 2018 and you can save on tickets by purchasing them online.

Gift of Lights Ticket Info

This year a portion of the proceeds will benefit THE GRAND RIVER HOSPITAL FOUNDATION so know that your ticket purchase is helping to fund a local organization.

Tickets are $25 + tax for a single vehicle (up to 8 passengers) at the gate, but you can SAVE by purchasing your tickets online at https://wl.seetickets.us/event/Gift-of-Lights/353282?afflky=Bingemans&sp=F1SMER

There you can also buy add-ons and even purchase a SPEED PASS to put you in the priority line!

We think this is a great tradition for you and your family and could even make a great gift for those living in the Kitchener Waterloo area. Let us know if you have attended the Gift of Lights or intend to by leaving a comment at the end of this post!

Things Are Coming Together at the Waterloo Park Project Thanks to #TDCommonGround

This post is sponsored by TD and the TD Common Ground Project

We'll start with the Disclaimer - Yes this is a sponsored post, but this just means we're able to tell you about all the great things happening at Waterloo Park!

In June when we mentioned that Waterloo Park was making some big changes thanks to #TDCommonGround. The #TDCommonGround Project is an initiative by TD to revitalize green spaces across Canada in recognition of Canada’s 150th birthday.  The infographic below, based on the findings from the TD GreenSights report, shows why green spaces are important to each community.

Together TD and The City of Waterloo are creating change in Waterloo Park to improve both pedestrian and bicycle traffic throughout the park.  One way this will be accomplished is by the construction of an additional bridge in the park.  The twinning of the Silver Lake bridge will help people get to their destinations in the park in a convenient way.  Another project that is being worked on is a dedicated cycling lane which will serve as a safe route for those on bicycles to ride through the park and avoid hazards pedestrians walking by.  The final upgrade is for a refreshed park entranceway to welcome all those coming to Waterloo Park.

Today we are glad to report that the project is underway and you can look forward to seeing the changes in 2018.

Things Are Coming Together to Help You Get Together @ Waterloo Park

For those of you not familiar with Waterloo Park, it is a wonderful gathering place where everyone can spend time in the City of Waterloo.  There are playgrounds, picnic areas, sports fields and even animals in the park.  It is a great place to spend some time alone or get together with others.

(I will embed this video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXu2Y5a-EQw )

With the completion of the Light Rail Transit system and the upgrades to Waterloo Park in 2018 it is sure to be a historic year for the City of Waterloo!

The November Rain Makes It The Best Time To See The God Of Thunder: Thor Ragnarok Review

We'll start with the Disclaimer – Yes, we did receive complimentary tickets, but this just means we're able to give you our opinion of the film

Last month we let you know that THOR was returning to the big screen in case you were wondering what the GOD OF THUNDER has been up to. We are thrilled to report that THOR RAGNAROK is spectacular movie for fans of the Marvel Heroes.  Even THOR himself has accepted himself as a hero and spends the first part of the movie explaining where he has been and what he expects to happen (being that he has been having visions since Avengers Age of Ultron).

While his visions are starting to come to fruition, they don’t pan out exactly the way he expects them too and so the adventure begins. Many things are explained Including why he no longer is sporting his long locks.

Look Out For Loki

While you think the film is about Thor’s journey, it was Loki (a favourite character of mine) that set all of this in motion.

Although he does not feel this way at the start of the film, he soon starts feeling the weight of what he has done.  Together, while approaching it in 2 very different ways, the sons of Odin being to forge a path to set things right.

While the earlier THOR films were much more dramatic this film takes the tone of brotherly love in a comedic sense.  Whether it is the brothers story of Thor and Loki, or the brotherhood of the Avengers when Thor is reunited with Hulk.  In fact there are a few storylines that include sibling rivalry in this film.  Another way that this film is a departure from earlier Thor films is how it looks.  It has much more to do with outer space giving it a Guardians of the Galaxy feel which may be because of the upcoming meld of the Avengers and the Guardians in Infinity War.  As always, we suggest watching for unexpected cameos and stay right to the end of the film.

This November is sure to be filled with glimpses of the GOD OF THUNDER on the screen and with our current weather situation, we think it is a great time to see Thor Ragnarok in theatres.

ance for Kindness, and it's a Flash Mob/Dance Mob that will happen simultaneously in 50 countries and 120 cities, with over 15000 participants. Waterloo is one of only 4 cities in Canada participating! Last year we held it as a private event at Lincoln Heights Public School, but it was so successful and we had so much fun that this year we're aiming higher. Waterloo Uptown Square Registration costs $10 per person, and the money goes to Lifevest Inside, an non-profit organization that promotes kindness https://www.facebook.com/groups/2369595749/permalink/10155794428825750
