Doctor Strange Could Be The Bargaining Chip In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Last month we let you know that Doctor Strange would be screening soon as part of the Marvel Studios lineup of films that would intertwine with each other. Now that the film has been released, here are our thoughts.

The Doctor Is In

DOCTOR STRANGE starts in a familiar way, very reminiscent of the first IRON MAN movie. Stephen Strange is an intelligent, snarky, self-absorbed man looking to raise his status and increase his wealth.  This all changes when tragedy strikes, and a new self-discovery story begins.  While this could be the same description of Tony Stark’s story in Iron Man, this is where the similarities end. Instead using technology to battle war overlords, Dr. Stephen Strange opens his mind to change fate and reality while battling mystic beings in this Marvel film.

The Who, What, When, Where And Why You See Doctor Strange

Who Should See Doctor Strange?

If you are a fan of the Marvel movies, then you should already be in line to see this film.
For those with younger children, please note there is violence and some graphic accident and hospital scenes.

What Should You Bring With You To Doctor Strange?

The only requirement beyond your movie tickets is your imagination. Doctor Strange will mystify you with its story and scenery from the beginning to the end of this film.

When

Right now! The movie was released yesterday. Check your local listings. We think it's great timing for the release being that he sports facial hair and it's MOVEMBER

Where Should You See Doctor Strange?

Anywhere they are showing the film in 3D! While I know many people who are not fans of these types of movies, 3D is actually party of the experience of this film.  It is the best way to see how the characters shape their reality.

Why Should You See Doctor Strange?

We think you will enjoy this film for so many reasons. It is an all-around fantastic movie, but there’s much more!
While you will soon understand the phrase, "Dormamu I've Come To Bargain"

We believe that’s not the only time a bargain is to be made with Doctor Strange. While you already know that from pictures that Doctor Strange wears the Eye of Agamotto on a chain around his neck, from the movie posters,

it’s what the eye contains that may be the bargaining chip that connects the Avengers to the Guardians Of The Galaxy. Plus while you wait during the credit roll (you know to do that with all the Marvel movies right?), you see that Doctor Strange is creating another bargain to connect with someone already familiar. (FYI still stay until ALL the credits roll for another glimpse of what Doctor Strange will be up to next). It seems to us that it's just what the doctor ordered!

Size Matters! Marvel's #ANTMAN Will Ensure You Know #ItsAllConnected

The Tiny Hero Comes To The Big Screen

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Tip “T.I.” Harris as Dave, Wood Harris as Gale, Judy Greer as Maggie, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, and Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a., Marvel’s “Ant-Man” delivers a high-stakes, tension-filled adventure on July 17, 2015.

ANT-MAN Will Ensure You Know #ItsAllConnected

From the moment the movie begins you know what Marvel means when they say #ItsAllConnected.  For those who are fans of the Marvel Movies and Marvel Television Shows you can see how they continously link the storylines together.  I don't want to give to much away, as I think the less you know about the film, the more you will enjoy it, but Marvel fans will be happy with the way this movie comes together.

What I Liked Most About ANT-MAN

I think ANT-MAN is reminiscent of the first Iron Man film in many ways.  It's about a man who goes through a serious life change to begin on his journey.  There's a lot of funny scenes a bit of romance and detailed scenes with the villan.  How it was different is that unlike Tony Stark, Scott Lang is not a millionaire playboy, instead he is crook wanting to change his ways.

As A Marvel Fan You Know To

  1. Look for S.H.I.E.L.D Easter Eggs
  2. Watch for the STAN LEE Cameo
  3. Stay in your seat when the credits start rolling
Another perk of seeing ANT-MAN in 3D is getting to see the Star Wars - The Force Awakens trailer in 3D too!

Marvel - Avengers Age Of Ultron : What You Need To Know

Moving Through The Marvel Timeline

Last week we had to opportunity to attend the advanced screening of the new MARVEL film
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON
at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto thanks to our friends at Walt Disney Studios / Marvel Canada. Being that Diane is new to the Marvel movies, with Guardians of the Galaxy being the first Marvel movie she went to see, I needed to give her the background on all the previous movies that involved the characters known as The Avengers.

My hour long synopsis went from the first Iron Man movie to the most recent Captain America: The Winter Solider and include tidbits about Marvel's Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. and Agent Carter.

It was a good thing I covered all the bases as a bit of everything was touched on in this film.

What You Will Love About Avengers: Age Of Ultron

This is a 3D film and from the moment it begins you feel like you are in the middle of an action packed video game. With explosions and stunt driving throughout the film you are sure to feel surrounded by the cinematic experience.

I was also having an 80s fan girl experience knowing that LESS THAN ZERO actors Robert Downey Jr. and James Spader were once again reunited to make this film.

This is one of the scenes I enjoyed most, which while it's not an action scene, it is very memorable. I love the quick quips and sarcastic banter that is part of these films.

What Is New About This Film

While the previous films were very story driven, the stories take a bit of a back seat to the action scenes.  There are great plot lines in the film, but they are more about the team working out there issues.

A Few Surprises In The Mix

No spoilers here, but there are a few things that will catch you off guard.
  • You will be able to see how The Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy franchaises may come together in future Marvel Films.
  • J.A.R.V.I.S. plays a bigger role with the team as apposed to just being a part of the IRON MAN movies
  • There is more that meets the "Hawkeye"
We think this movie will be great for the tween to teen audience when it comes a family night out at the movies!
