World's Biggest Bake Sale May 31st 10am-6pm
http://biggestbakesale.com/
The organizers of the bake sale understand that a lot of people in our community have allergies and dietary restrictions. We also understand the severity of some allergies and sensitivities and wouldn't want to be responsible for anyone having a reaction. We cannot guarantee that any of the items baked in home kitchens would be completely safe for these people. Having said that, we will have a limited supply of nut-free, gluten-free and vegan items that are being donated from bakeries. The demand is high and supply limited so we can't guarantee that there will be some available all day. The majority of baked goods will be in variety packs of 5 for $5. We will also have some cupcakes for sale individually for $1 and fancier items available individually for $2. This is a rain or shine event

2014 Summer Teen Volunteer Program
Kitchener Public Library is now accepting applications for summer teen volunteers. Read-aloud partners and summer program assistants are needed at all community libraries and at the Central Library, which makes it easy for teens to access this opportunity.
This is a great chance to discover skills, gain experience and earn the service hours needed to graduate from high school, while making a difference in the community.
Volunteers must be Grade 8 graduates age 13 to 18.
Applications can be found online and must be complete by May 31. A screening process, including an interview with the volunteer coordinator and a mandatory orientation session follow.
