I get many parents contacting me regarding places for their Teens to volunteer for their required high school hours. Many don't realize that there are so many opportunities to volunteer in Kitchener Waterloo. I always ask what are they interested in and what career path are they hoping to get in to?
Volunteering is a great way to get a behind the scenes look at how operations work. If they have an interest in Sports, Television, Health Sector, Child Studies, Senior Care, Environmental, Arts (and so many other fields) there are a variety of places they can volunteer to gain experience and get involved in our Community! Here is some great places to start for teens and for yourself and/or other family members as well. Many of the places below have click able links for more information.
and as you know we aka Those2Girls also enjoy creating events and can use extra hands when it comes to registration desks, raffle tickets etc. so stay keep checking our Facebook Page to see what we're up to next.

Another great offer from Cineplex is SCENE points. I use a SCENE debit card so I quickly rack up the points, which then turns into FREE MOVIE tickets and discounts on concession items.
SCENE points members can also receive 10% off Movie Tickets on Tuesday incase you don't have enough points racked up to get in everyone in for free :)
March Break Movies - usually The Princess Cinemas in Waterloo and Empire Theatres offer matinees around the $3 range
Check what upcoming FREE family films will be happening at the local library. Remember we have multiple KPL, WPL and Cambridge Libraries to choose from in this area
Contact your local Community Centre to see if they are having any family movie nights.
In the summer there are lots of outdoor movies including Movies In The Park (Waterloo Park), Victoria Park, Bingemans, Chicopee, Cambridge City Hall
In the warm weather visit the Guelph Mustang Drive-In on one of their car load nights
Add your trick to saving money on movie tickets in the comments!
We're always looking to connect KW Families with activities and lot of fun things to do in the Kitchener Waterloo area, so when the question was posed on our group page of where to find indoor skating in KW I got right to work. After the research was compiled I decided to post a list of all places to skate near Kitchener Waterloo. Whether it be public skating, figure skating, minor hockey, ringette, sledge hockey, shinny, speed skating, inline skating and skateboarding. Did we miss any other kind of skating?
Most of these facilities offer public skates, family skates, shinny (pick up hockey), learn to skate and figure skating lessons, as well you can rent the ice to hold your own skating parties, hockey games and practices.
Other arenas that offer rentals (and some lessons) include
Plus KW has a Speed Skating Club http://www.kwspeedskating.com/ and a Figure Skating Club http://www.kwsc.org/ In addition the KW Skating Club offers a variety of family friendly learn to skate programs
Hopefully that helps when it comes to getting a little exercise while enjoying some family fun! If you know of other places to skate near Kitchener Waterloo please leave it in the comments!
