The City of Kitchener Brings a New Version of The Safety Dance for 2021

When we heard the words “The Safety Dance” it conjured up memories of Men Without Hats and their 80s hit Safety Dance.

Now in 2021, The City of Kitchener has a new Safety Dance to help citizens remember all the precautions they should be taking during the pandemic. It includes reminders to wash your hand, wear your mask, stay 6 feet apart and shelter at home. The Safety Dance Challenge is up and running and by posting your version, you have a chance to win prizes too!

Even Mayor Berry is getting in on the action.

“As the pandemic wears on, it’s important that we keep public health safety measures top of mind,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “Our safety dance challenge is a fun, lighthearted way to get up, move, and challenge friends and family to do the same. I’d encourage everyone – families with kids, teens, adults, and seniors to all take the challenge.”

The #KitchenerMarket Re-Opens on June 13, 2020 – Enter to Win

We'll start with the Disclaimer - Yes, we do provide media coverage for the Kitchener Market, but this just means we're able to offer you a chance to win too! Enter the contest at the end of this post

When I wrote about the Thai Cooking Class at Kitchener Market on March 11th, I had not idea that would be the last time I would see the market in months.  Due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus and the Emergency Shut Down, the Kitchener Market was closed.  Now that three months have passed and things are beginning to open, it was announced earlier this week that the Kitchener Market plans to open the Farmers’ Market on June 13th.

What You Need to Know about the Kitchener Market Re-Opening

According to the City of Kitchener Media Release the Kitchener Market will open at 7am on June 13, 2020 with new safety precautions in places.
Here is what you need to know:

  • Only the Farmers’ Market portion of the Kitchener Market will be open
  • There will be limited vendors on the first day
  • The number of people allowed in the building at a time will be monitored
  • Many vendors will have items pre-bagged
  • Contactless payment is preferred, for those still wanting to pay cash you will be expected to have the exact amount per purchase
  • The Food Hall, Upper Market Vendors, Kids Events and Cooking Classes will not be opening/happening at this time

While I know many of you are missing the events that take place at the Kitchener Market, they have taken them online.  We really missed hosting our Food Revolution KW Day, but we are glad that Chef Nicole and Chef Rob are still here to help us virtually!

You and your family can cook Chef Nicole every Saturday Morning on Facebook Live on the City of Kitchener Facebook page.  Here is just one of the Virtual Kids in the Kitchen classes. (if you cannot view the videos you may want to try another browser or click on the links listed below).
