For Young Audiences Series
This year, The Centre In The Square is offering three productions for young audiences in the Studio. We believe in giving kids the opportunity to experience exceptional theatre, and we hope this will inspire a passion that will last a lifetime – or at the very least, fill a Saturday for moms and dads with something interesting and memorable.
Tickets: $5 (Child) $10 (Adult) $25 (Family of 5)
The Man Who Planted Trees
Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11AM and 2PM
CENTRE DEBUT
This multi-sensory theatrical adaptation of Jean Giono's environmental classic tells the inspiring story of a shepherd who plants a forest, acorn by acorn, transforming a barren wasteland. As much a touching tale as it is a hilarious puppet show, The Man Who Planted Trees shows us the difference one man (and his dog!) can make to the world. Puppet State Theatre Company is based in Edinburgh, specializing in live theatre with puppetry, storytelling and a dash of improvisation.
The show runs approximately 65 minutes and is suitable for adults and children over 7.
BubbleMania!
Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11AM and 2PM
CENTRE DEBUT
See the beauty, wonder and fun of bubbles as Casey Carle brings his amazing one-man show combining spontaneous comedy, jazz music and brilliant bubbling to The Centre. Among the many-featured skills are fantastic fog-filled bubble sculptures, blobs of helium-filled foam, bubble ping-pong, trapping an audience member (or two?) inside a gigantic soap bubble and thousands of bubbles filling the stage. Amazement and amusement for ages 5 through 95.

Pekka

CENTRE DEBUT
Pekka is produced by Le Théatre des Petites Âmes (Small Souls), a theatre dedicated to object and mask theatre productions for kids. Every night, Pekka the tiny turtle impatiently awaits her bedtime story. But Jacyntha, the elder, needs the moon to invent her stories. And tonight, the moon decided not to show up! Pekka decides to go and look for Miss Moon to find out where Miss Moon is hiding and why she doesn’t want to shine? Pekka is for children between the ages of 2 and 5, and runs 30 minutes. http://centreinthesquare.com/calendar/?day_no=6&date_calendar=2014-5-3
