Earlier this week we headed to the Drayton Festival Theatre
to review Cruisin' Classics. We love the 50s and
60s. We love the fashion, we love the
music and we love the automobiles that showed off the styles for that time period. Cruisin’ Classics tips its hat to a time when
it was all about finding your best frock and driving to the local drive-in diner
to hang with the local teenagers. The
heyday of Rock and Roll comes alive on stage with a full band and singers
performing the songs that everyone knows the words to. Each act was a medley of songs about finding
love, breaking up or making up. The owner of the drive-in diner set the stage
for each act with an overview of what he saw take place each summer at his
establishment. Every singer took on their
song with a heartfelt performance and the audience immediately connected with the
music scene being portrayed.
As an extra surprise, Kitchener-Waterloo native Joshua
Warren was a featured performer in this show. Many of our readers know we love supporting
local talent so seeing him in on the stage made this musical extra special
for us!
As listed on the Drayton Entertainment website, Cruisin’
Classics is...
Entertaining and
energetic, this joyous jive down memory lane will tickle your funny bone and
touch your heart with its classic tunes and retro style.
…so, we suggest you grab your tickets and turn back the
clock to a time when it was all about the glory days of Rock and Roll!
