Chance to Golf with a Maple Leafs Legend

In November of 2019 I was living my best life meeting Maple Leafs Legends at the Maple Leafs Alumni vs. Movember Mavericks Game. Now you have a chance to spend the day golfing with Maple Leafs Legend Rick Vaive at the FORE MOVEMBER Golf Tournament.

This fundraising golf tournament is taking place on August 14th at the Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club (which is only 20 mins from Kitchener).  Not only can you have a fun day of golf, but there is also a chance to have Rick Vaive spend the day on the course golfing with you!

ENTER THE AUCTION
and bid on a chance to golf with Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni Rick Vaive!  Bidding ends this week so don't miss out on your chance.

Register FORE MOVEMBER

Even if you don't win the auction, you still have a chance to meet Rick Vaive by registering to golf that day. There will be a meet and greet after the tournament.

What: FORE Movember Golf Tournament
Where: Ariss Valley Golf Club
When: Monday, August 14, 8am to 3pm
Cost: $125 per golfer
Included: 18 Holes with power cart, Breakfast, BBQ Lunch, competitions, prizes, raffles

To register: Contact Jeff (jmorriso@gmail.com or 519-591-8259). Please provide the full names of the golfers in your party.
NOTE registration is not validated until payment has been received (cash, cheque or eTransfer).

You don’t have to be a seasoned golfer to participate. This tournament is mainly about raising the necessary awareness and funds to educate the community about Movember and how it globally supports men’s health and wellness. It’s a win-win! Have an amazing day of golf, support and learn more about how Movember contributes towards men’s health and wellness - and while you're at it, meet the Leafs Legend Rick Vaive.

Kurt Browning's Final Tour with Stars on Ice Glided into Kitchener

As I mentioned months ago, Stars on Ice was coming to Kitchener and last night was the night!
Stars on Ice performed at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium last night and the arena was full of emotion.  Whether it was a joyful synchronized skate with the performers, a skate with a soundtrack theme, or a heartfelt moment as Kurt Browning said goodbye to fans and fellow skaters, the feelings of each program were amplified by the spectators and their reactions to all skates gliding by them.

This year's show brought thousands to The Aud to see the skating icons. The attendees were thrilled to see their favorites from the skating world take to the ice for a performance filled with thrilling twirls, flips, and a little funky fun courtesy of Jason Browne's Boy Band skate.  Elvis Stojko had everyone ready to JUMP, Patrick Chan expressed the feelings of becoming a father and Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier skated an emotionally charged tribute to Evita. Movie soundtracks played a prominent role in this year's Stars on Ice productions.  Songs from 007, A Star is Born and the aforementioned Evita delighted fans, but for many, the highlights were the tributes to Kurt Browning throughout the show. Kurt Browning announced earlier this year that after 30 Years of performing with Stars on Ice that this would be his last Stars on Ice tour. Both the skaters and the audience conveyed their appreciation for his dedication to the sport of skating with thunderous applause and standing ovations.

Founded in 1986 by skating icon and Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton, the Stars on Ice tour originated in the United States.  In 1991, Stars on Ice began to tour Canada and has now played more than 300 shows in the past 30+ years.  Past tour performers include Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, Brian Orser, Jamie SalĂ© & David Pelletier, and Joannie Rochette.
As a long-time figure skating fan, I was excited to see these legendary skaters perform in Kitchener and look forward to the next time Stars of Ice comes back to our region.

Infant and Child Studies group is a group of researchers interested in better understanding child cognition: so how kids learn! All our studies are designed as games for children to play while we observe how they respond to various toys, videos or sounds. The activities are fun for the kids, and help us to understand concepts like how children learn new words, when children can begin to understand math, or what learning strategies kids use to understand new concepts. We deliver studies in person, as well as online and in take home formats.
